Program Directors
Brett Harper - Regional Director, Arizona

Brett is an Arizona native and Desert Mountain High School alum who was drafted straight out of high school as a power-hitting first baseman. Over a 16-year professional career, he established himself as a feared bat in the lineup, compiling more than 4,510 at-bats, 232 home runs, 829 RBIs, and a career batting average above .300. Known for his ability to hit for both power and average, Brett earned a reputation as one of the most consistent offensive players of his era. After his playing days, he turned his focus to developing the next generation of athletes, bringing the same work ethic and knowledge that fueled his own success. Today, Brett serves as Arizona’s State Director for Trosky, overseeing program operations and player development while providing families with a clear and proven pathway to college baseball. His experience as both a decorated player and respected leader allows him to mentor athletes on and off the field with credibility and purpose.
Brian Harper - On-Field Coordinator, Arizona
17-Year MLB Catcher • World Series Champion • 19-Year Pro Coach
Brian was born in Los Angeles, California, and starred at San Pedro High School before being drafted in the fourth round by the California Angels. A catcher by trade, he enjoyed a 17-year Major League career highlighted by two team MVP awards with the Minnesota Twins and a 1991 World Series championship. After his playing career, Brian spent 19 years as a professional coach, including roles as manager of the Angels’ Arizona Fall League team, catching coach for the San Francisco Giants, and hitting coach within both the Chicago Cubs and Detroit Tigers organizations. His extensive experience working with players across multiple positions and levels gives him a unique ability to prepare athletes for the next stage of their careers. Today, Brian serves as Trosky Arizona’s on-field coordinator and youth program leader, bringing proven coaching expertise and a player-first approach that helps young athletes thrive.

Jeff Powers - Infield Coordinator
Jeff a Scottsdale native and Chaparral High School alum, played college ball at the University of San Diego before a seven-year professional career with the Cleveland Indians and Arizona Diamondbacks organizations. Jeff primarily played shortstop and second base - while earning a reputation as a versatile and reliable player. Today, he’s a cornerstone of our coaching staff, bringing pro-level experience, local roots, and a deep passion for developing the next generation of players.

Jeff Powers - Infield Coordinator
A Scottsdale native and Saguaro High School graduate, T.J. Beam starred at the University of Mississippi, earning First-Team All-SEC honors before being drafted by the New York Yankees in 2003. A right-handed relief pitcher, he debuted in 2006 and later pitched for the Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates. After retiring, he returned to Ole Miss as a pitching coach and has since focused on developing the next generation of arms. Today, he is Trosky Arizona’s Pitching Coordinator, bringing MLB experience and a strong record of player development to the program.

Jared Grainger - Regional Coach
Jared, a Scottsdale native and Horizon High School graduate, went on to pitch at Glendale Community College before continuing his career at Coastal Carolina University. A 6’0”, 189-pound right-hander, he competed at the NCAA Division I level, gaining valuable experience on the mound against elite competition. Jared now brings that background and his Arizona roots to Trosky as a Regional Team Coach. With a focus on fundamentals, and preparation, he is dedicated to helping players grow their skills and confidence while guiding them toward the next level.
